Hemmings Find of the Day – 1952 Nash Statesman Custom four-door sedan

Published in

From the seller’s description:

This is a Great Recent Restoration of a 1952 Nash Statesman Designed by the Renowned Italian Car Designer Pininfarina. This is the First Year of the Pininfarina Series for Nash. The Interior was Completely re-done in a very Cool Art Deco Design with Rich Red Leather, and Gold & Red Striping Fabric. The Pictures don’t do it Justice. The Seats Go down into a Bed, and when you sit in the Back you feel like your in a Cocktail Parlor from the 30’s. The Low Front Wheel wells appear to give the look that the car is “Floating” down the road, like a Bead of Water.
The Drivetrain is a Flathead Six, with Manual 3 Speed Plus + Over-drive (5 Speed). Sometimes it sticks and Doesn’t kick into Overdrive when you want it to… Anyone who’s driven a car with an Overdrive Knows what I mean, it seems to be common, and usually a loose wire between the switch.
The Car Drives & Runs Amazing, I would trust this to get you across the country and Back. When the car was restored, the engine was also all re-Machined, and redone, and Runs like New.
If I were to say the One thing I would improve on this car, it would be the Paint. The prior Owner right after the restoration made the mistake of putting a car cover on it outside and it Dulled the Shiny finish on the roof. It has a few dings here and there but nothing major.
Overall this is a Great Daily Driver, and could be a Show Car with with some New Paint and a few last touches.
