Hemmings Find of the Day – 1968 Oldsmobile Toronado

Published in blog.hemmings.com

Oldsmobile’s Toronado began life as a design sketch that was never intended to go beyond the “what if” stage. When approved for production, even Bill Mitchell was unsuccessful in getting the car downsized to a more sporting A-body platform, and instead the personal luxury coupe was built on the larger E-body platform. As if its futuristic looks weren’t enough to attract attention, the Toronado departed from tradition in another way, too – its front-mounted V-8 sent power to the front wheels instead of the rear. This 1968 Oldsmobile Toronado, for sale on Hemmings.com, comes from the model’s third year of production, which means it wears a restyled front end and carries 455 V-8 beneath the hood instead of the earlier Toronado’s 425. Said to have an older repaint over a body that’s dent and rust free, this driver-quality car could be a good choice for collector new to the hobby. From the seller’s description:
