Hemmings Find of the Day – 1988 Mazda RX-7 convertible

Published in

Today, the terms “convertible sports car” and “Mazda” seem to go hand in hand, as the brand’s MX-5 Miata has proven itself the best-selling two-seat sports car in the world. Before there was the Miata, Mazda went topless with a version of its rotary-powered RX-7, which debuted in convertible form for the 1988 model year. This 1988 Mazda RX-7 convertible, for sale on, has seen summer duty with the same family since 1991, and is described as an unmodified car that’s received regular maintenance. Like all RX-7 convertibles, this model features a three-position top that allows passengers to enjoy open, closed or Targa motoring, thanks to a rigid panel in the folding top. With a heavy-duty heater and an integral windblocker, the RX-7 convertible extends the open-air season longer than other models, making it perfect for the summer-one-day-winter-the-next weather we’ve been experiencing of late. From the seller’s description:

Original condition with regular maintenance, tires and brakes replaced at 91,670 miles, above average condition, no rust, just normal wear and tear. We purchased in1991. Since then, it has been stored winters, adult owned and driven. Original grey leather interior, original sound system. Starts and runs nice. Comes with a dust cover for storage. Please contact via phone, text, or email.
