Buick’s limited-production, two-year only Reatta convertible always struck us as a car that should be more popular than it is among collectors. Though styling is subjective, it’s certainly not a bad-looking car, and being a Buick, its ride is comfortable, if not particularly sporting. Yes, Reatta coupes and convertibles had a few issues early on, but by now those have long since been sorted by previous owners. Take this 1990 Reatta convertible, for sale on Hemmings.com, by way of example. One of the 2,132 drop-top models produced in 1990, the first year of convertible production, this one has been gone over by a model specialist, with all reported problem areas (including the air conditioning and headlamp motors) addressed. It’s even painted in Maui Blue Metallic instead of the near-ubiquitous red most often seen on Reatta coupes and convertibles, which, perhaps, makes this example that much more interesting for buyers seeking a sensible (and domestic) way of soaking up the sun. From the seller’s description:
If you’re reading this ad, you’ve probably been searching for the perfect Reatta convertible. Look no further. You have found it!
Presented to you from East Coast Reatta Parts is this immaculate 1990 Reatta convertible painted in Maui Blue Metallic. This is a very rare color for convertibles. This car is one of only nine Reatta convertibles were ever produced in this color and option combination.
If you are looking to buy a Reatta, you’re probably tired of looking at red and white Reattas over and over again. Own a Reatta that is even more unique than usual!
Sold new in Tennessee at Waller Buick, this car spent most of its life in the Nashville area, with some time later down in northern Florida. We purchased the car from the original owner’s family, and proceeded to go through the car from bumper to bumper.
All of the normal problems that plague Reattas have either been repaired by the Reatta professionals, or are non-existent on this car. The brake system works perfectly with no brake lights on. The air-conditioning works flawlessly and blows ice cold. The headlight lift motors have been refurbished with all new parts. Even the sun visor clips that are always broken on convertibles have been replaced with NOS ones from our stock of Reatta parts. We installed new factory size Michelin tires on the newly polished OEM aluminum wheels, as well as an overhauled factory stereo system with new speakers. This Reatta is well optioned with both the 16-way power seats and body color mouldings.
We also installed a new white pinpoint vinyl top with heated glass back window just as this Reatta came with from the factory.
With just under 95,500 original miles, this numbers-matching Reatta is in near perfect condition. The paint shines like new, the painted pinstripe has just been redone to factory specs, and even the taillight has been optically restored to look like new. . The deep blue interior has no rips or tears. The seats are cushy and as soft as new. All of the functions on the 16-way seats work perfectly, including the lumbar support bag, which we replaced.
Included are two sets of keys with factory remotes for the keyless entry (fully functional) as well as the complete owner’s portfolio with the pen, tire gauge, flashlight, convertible manual, note pad and all other literature.
Take a look at some of the underside pictures. You won’t find a more rust free Reatta most anywhere! This car has been pampered its whole life, and it shows.
We have had dozens of Reattas through our facility, and had our hands on hundreds more. And this Reatta is one of the nicest Reattas we have seen in recent months. And who better to buy a Reatta from than the people who live and breathe Reattas every day?
