Bedford, Pennsylvania, 1940s to 1960s

Published in

Reader Larry Ulm recently sent us a couple of images – above and below – of what was possibly the Lincoln Highway’s most famous attraction in Pennsylvania: the Grand View Ship Hotel, situated about 17 miles west of Bedford, where visitors could take in an expansive view. Never originally a boat, it was just built to resemble one as a ploy to attract tourists, which it did rather well. So well, in fact, that we decided to include a few other photos of it from Forward Look, the Lincoln Highway Association, and LincolnHighway on Tumblr (and point to one by AsteriskTom). What do you see here?
