1974 Comet with a RB24S Inline-Six

Published in engineswapdepot.com

CJ Panila created a very unique 1974 Mercury Comet for cruising around the streets in the Philippines. The coupe no longer features a Ford 250 ci inline-six but instead uses a rare carbureted 2.4 L RB24S inline-six pulled from a 1989 Nissan Cefiro A31. The engine features a RB25 block (86 mm bore), RB20 crank (69.7 mm stroke), and 34 mm height pistons, and ported and polished SOHC RB30 head. CJ estimates the engine makes slightly more than the factory rated 139 hp (104 kW) and 145 lb-ft (197 Nm) of torque thanks to the head work and Weber 38/38 DGAS 390 CFM double-barrel carburetor. The engine wasn’t the only part to be used from the Cefiro. CJ also installed the five-speed manual transmission, full suspension including front/rear shock towers, front subframe, steering rack, rear end, and even fuel system. The Comet might only be for cruising but nothing can beat the feeling of driving your own creation.
