Regular readers of the Hemmings Daily will no doubt be familiar with the work of artist, photographer, animator, and filmmaker Stefan Marjoram. One of the things we look forward to each year is Stefan’s “Auto Art Advent” series of sketches, released one per day through the month of December. The Auto Art Advent tradition started in 2011, and each year Stefan attempts to inject something new into the mix. For 2016, he focused on “my favourite actual cars (lots of hillclimb specials and odd-balls).”
Last year’s Auto Art Advent featured the artist’s favorite cars from around the world.
“This year,” he tells us, “The inspiration is TV and film – but still done in a vintage style.” Contemplating historical analogues to modern things is a favorite activity for us, and it is exciting to see Stefan’s dynamic style of art giving a new twist to old pop-culture icons like Ecto-1 and the Bluesmobile.
We are ready for the 1920s re-boot of the Ghostbusters franchise, as envisioned by the sketch released December 2nd.
